Rays Of Guidance

My Lord! Cause me to come in with a firm incoming and to go out with a firm outgoing. And give me from Thy presence a sustaining Power.” [Al Qur'aan 17:80]

Affair of a Mu’min:

The Messenger of Allah sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam said:
“Strange is the affair of the mu’min (the believer). Verily, all his affairs are good for him. If something pleasing befalls him he thanks (Allah) and it becomes better for him. And if something harmful befalls him he is patient (saabir) and it becomes better for him. And this is only for the mu’min.”

When a clamity Befalls a muslims:

the Prophet (peace be upon him) says:
“Any Muslim who says when a calamity befalls him that which Allah commanded him: ‘To Allah we belong and to him we return. O Allah reward me in this calamity and give me better then it’ – Allah will grant him better than (that which he lost) (Muslim).”

Patience is the exercise of restraint in trying situations. It is a virtue which enables the individual to proceed towards worthy goals, undeflected by adverse circumstances or repeated provocations. If he allows himself to become, upset by opposition, taunts or other kinds of unpleasantness, he will never reach his goals. He will simply become enmeshed in irrelevances. Yaqub alyihi sallam dealt with the irksome side of his sons by exercising patience. On loosing Yusuf and Binyamin to their treachery, he opted for the way of tolerance rather than that of reaction to provocation. It enabled him to absorb shock and bolster positive thoughts. From the story of Yusuf alyihi sallam I have learned that Allah has fashioned this world in such a way that every believer will be tested from one time to another, confront unpleasant matters, witness harrowing events, suffer pain etc in order to qualify as candidates for eternal bless and enjoyment in Paradise. In such difficult, heart breaking and/or aggravating situations, demonstration of patience has a healing, beneficial effect, allowing one to tread the path of discreet avoidance and to continue, undeterred on one’s journey attaining the pleasure of Allah.

Winners are not born; they are made. The only difference between them and the losers is how they react to setbacks. A barrier on a road is not the end of the road. It is simply cautioning us to take a detour. However, I have seen people changing tracks or even collapsing just because of one obstacle in life. Their whole life gets upside down, with just one failure. Remember, failures are God’s way of teaching us the things we do not learn. He gives us an opportunity to meditate over our life’s experiences and learn where we go wrong. If we learn a lesson out of a failure, we will bounce back and go much higher like a ball, the harder you hit it to the ground, the higher it will go up. Winners are born out of losses. No, pain no gain. It is not what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you that decides where you will land in your life. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, Who, when disaster strikes them, say, ‘Indeed we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we will return’. Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are [rightly] guided” (2:155-157).

There is no ultimate failure. No one can achieve global success overnight. No Olympic champion is made without experiencing setbacks. You never fail until you stop trying. There is always tomorrow and you can hit back harder. Do not let others choose your destiny! Stay patient and persistent and you will make your dreams come true.
“The magnitude of the reward goes along with the magnitude of affliction. When Allah who is great and glorious loves people He afflicts them, and those who accept it gladly receive Allah’s good pleasure, but those who are displeased receive Allah’s displeasure” (Mishkat Al-Masabih)

Are you Okay? Really, are you feeling fine?
Because for some reason, you seem to be straying from the line.
Allah has made it clear (2:38),
That if you follow his guidance, you have nothing to fear.

But somehow, you think everything is okay,
You don’t seem to care about being on the straight way,
Your heart is rock, like the floor I sleep on in my room everyday.
But little do you know, that time is running,
And soon, what most people do not reflect on is coming.
Something Al Hasan Al Basri says is so true,
Yet we procrastinate as though we have nothing to do.
You spend your time collecting this world’s treasures,
when the Prophet sallahu alyihi wa sallam said, ”Frequently remember the destroyer of pleasures.”
You stay up late doing useless things most nights,
When the Prophet sallahu alyihi wa sallam said, “ Frequently remember the cutter of delights.”

Yes lets say it; lets finally get it out,
    Kullu nafsin zaa’ikatul muwt
Whether you like it or not, it will take me and you
Al Mawtu Haqq, death is true,
There will be no warning, no sign to prevent,
The angel of death from his quick descent
Death may come swiftly, it may come slow,
It takes those planning, with places to go.
We procrastinate in doing good deeds because we feel we may live longer,
All we are doing is making the punishment stronger.

When in the grave, none will be there to console
When the angels come and say, oh you evil soul
This is not a good sign and what happens next
May be even worse, as described in the holy text
Is this what you want, will you just give in?
And wait until the time when man would dislike meeting Allah and Allah would dislike meeting Him?
No, you cannot give up, you must strive,
To do good deeds while still alive

Or have you sinned too much, too dirty to come back,
The Prophet sallahu alyihi wa sallam did not believe in that
There is a way to salvation, a way that may be attained soon
Kullu bani Adam Khatta, wa Khairul Khatta’in Attawwaabun
So there is a way out before you are given your sentence,
You must wake up, and give a sincere repentance
Repentance, really, is it as simple as that?
Don’t you know Allah says, Innal hasanat, yuthhibnassayyi’at?
This may sound so simple; I see your mouth open in awe
But never give up hope in the forgiveness of Allah

Repentance is not the end however; you must take steps to ensure you do not fall
Cut back on the TV, read Islamic books, and no more excuses to join the sisters at the mall.
There is one more thing I personally feel is of up most importance,
It is mentioned in the Qur’an several times, that is to have patience.
Patience in obeying Allah, patience in dawah, patience with your family
Patience especially when struck with a calamity
But the most important type of patience is patience in times of ease,
Constantly doing what is right, even when what is right does not always please.

So this is it, you have the plan, you know how,
When should you get started? Right now!
This is the way to be successful.

Your scale of good is heavier than your scale of sin,
This will surely cause you to win,

When you are put into the grave from your coffin
This is the point when man would love to meet Allah and Allah would love to meet him.

It is also your duty to spread this to your brothers
Because, of course, the Prophet (SAW) said we should love one another.

As Allah has commanded us, the One Who knows what goes on in the tallest of trees and the lowest of wells,
“And hold fast, all together, to the rope of Allah, and be not divided among yourselves”

So I ask you, obey Allah, be sincere, And do not forget,

Something I feel many of us have not grasped yet,

    Fasbir, Have Patience.
