DASTAN-E-MUJAHID
This was the first urdu novel I ever read and this is my fav. novel of all times. Naseem Hijazi did a great job at not just telling dastan-e-Mujahid but weaving the story around, to give an insight into the lives of mujahideen of the past. I was merely going through the words on paper, but actually living the experiences of the luminaries and heroes of Islam. I was completely fused in the characters and ambiences portrayed in the novel. In reading, I have discovered a way to make dozens of new friends and traveling back in time half way across the globe without physically moving or actually meeting anybody. I became Na3eem; single-handedly combating the enemy, patiently swallowing all grief and losses, and sometimes Sabra rearing her children as a single mother. I played with Abdullah and his friends near the pond, Muhammad bin Qasim; firing up the population for jihad; drawing maps executing orders to fight; and, when desperate, even strolling along the mountain sides with Nargis. This is unlike any novel I have ever read. Anyone who likes true, Islamic history, character building stories packed with adventure, suspense and (clean) romance – they’ll surely enjoy this novel. Please add it to your collection.
